GET ready for some more Angel delight in the Duke Of York Clipper Logistics Stakes.
HARRY ANGEL is one of the horses I’m most looking forward to seeing this season and I’m expecting him to make a winning return.
He won the July Cup and Haydock’s Sprint Cup last season and he sets a high standard for the rest to match even when giving his rivals weight.
2.20 YORK: Tuck into HAMADA.
He showed plenty of promise in maidens a couple of years ago. His Sandown second behind subsequent Royal Ascot winner Atty Persse is top form and he broke his duck by six lengths at Pontefract.
Charlie Appleby’s hope missed all of last year but there was a lot to like about the way he won on her comeback at Wolverhampton last time. He could end up in Group races.
Now Children also made a winning return from more than a year off the track at Wolverhampton on his debut for in-form Clive Cox.
Several winners came out of that 1m1f contest in February and he should stay today’s longer trip.
Crowned Eagle had Tuff Rock a length back in third when winning Kempton’s Roseberry Handicap in March. He’s not sure to confirm that form if Tuff Rock gets a decent pace to aim at.
2.55 YORK: FLYING PURSUIT is ready for take-off.
He beat Al Qahwa – winner of this race 12 months ago – over today’s course and distance last summer before going on to strike at Ripon.
His third behind Teruntum Star underlined his liking for this track and I’m expecting him to improve a lot for his comeback run at Ripon last month.
Gin In The Inn looked to have improved over the winter when winning that contest. He’s only gone up 4lbs and looks sure to be competitive again.
Teruntum Star, Danzeno and Out Do are others to keep an eye on in an open race.
3.30 YORK: I can’t wait to see HARRY ANGEL back in action.
He has the potential to be one of the great sprinters after notching up two Group 1 wins last season.
His July Cup success – when Brando was back in third – was most impressive and he was way to good for Tasleet in Haydock’s Sprint Cup.
He has to give weight away all round on his return to action but I’m sure he’s up to the job with trainer Clive Cox going so well.
Perfect Pasture returned to action with a Listed win on the opening day of the Flat season at Doncaster. The faster ground is against him.
Tasleet – winner of this race 12 months ago – is the best forecast bet. He was twice beaten by Harry Angel last season but he did finish in front of him when runner-up on Champion Day at Ascot.
My fancy wasn’t anywhere near his best that day and I’m sure he’s a top-notch speedster.
Templegate’s TV tips
2.20 York – Hamada: ‘His form behind useful Atty Persse is by far the best in this race’ (add to your betslip)
2.55 York – Flying Pursuit: ‘Has top course and distance form already’ (add to your betslip)
3.30 York – Harry Angel: ‘Group 1 class and is in a different league to these’ (add to your betslip)
4.05 York – Give And Take: ‘Sets a decent standard on form’ (add to your betslip)
4.05 YORK: Have a little bit of GIVE AND TAKE in the Musidora.
She chased home Group 1 winner Wild Illusion at Yarmouth last year before bolting up a Lingfield.
There was plenty to like about her return to action when runner-up behind smart prospect Crystal Hope at Sandown.
Highgarden was just over a length further back that day. She was a little fresh so could easily improve a fair bit for the run but the same applies to Give And Take.
Ceilidhs Dream made a nice return when winning a Newmarket maiden over a mile. She’s been held up in her races and that’s not the easiest thing to pull off at York.
David Simcock’s team is in good shape so Ejtyah has to be worth a second glance.
